Anthony Wilson

Name and Nickname: Anthony Wilson, Fraggle to my lovely wife only (and no-one else), because apparently I am a Fraggle
Whats your real job: Senior Project Director, sounds like a bit of a nonsense (can I say wanky?) title but I do have an important job. I manage design and construction of new maritime works for the Department of Transport which encompasses Project Director and Superintendent roles.
Favorite Workout: Friday morning Pilates, the sticky tape that holds this aging body together, followed by long IM rides with a run off the bike.
Biggest waste of your time: Contractors not thinking things through and providing the right documentation, followed by TV.
If you could travel anywhere, where would you go and why: Back to France to ride the tour climbs. Oh hang on, doing that next year. That’s right J
Favorite Celebrity: Male: Matt Damon, a man’s man and down to earth. Female: Emily Blunt, smart and smoking hot with an English accent to boot.
Something people don't know about you: I’m a bit introverted. No, really!
Any quirky or superstitious things you do prior to a race: Not that I am aware of. Down a couple of Immodium tablets, that’s about as weird as it gets.
Which is your favourite 4 legged creature and why: Definitely puppy dogs, just love puppy dogs. They are so innocent and affectionate and fun-loving.
Who or What in triathlon inspire you: The participants down the field doing it tough with a 7 hr half IM or 16 hr IM and not giving up. And people who volunteer their time to the sport.
Favorite song: Africa by Toto. Yep, I am a child of the 80s
Goal In triathlon: Keep improving my 70.3 PB, and not getting nauseous in the IM marathon. Also not getting injured and to still be doing this in my 60s.
What does a perfect day look like to you: Everyone has fun and no-one gets hurt. And Justine PBs in an IM.
What’s your guilty pleasure: Beating the young bucks to the top on hills rides. Getting harder to do though.
Anything else you'd like to add: Special thanks to my Super Coach Captain Awesome/Fangio for his dedication to my training program, making the sessions interesting, and supporting me during races. It really is pretty amazing that both G & K were out there walking and running with their GK athletes after completing their own racing at IM NZ this year.
